Cancellation Policy

Your reservation for rafting or camping is a special commitment for you as well as us. We have a limited rafting permit, very limited camping/RV spaces, and only 5 cabins. We are a small seasonal business and once your rafting or camping space is confirmed, other clients for those camping dates and rafting spaces are turned away.

Cancellation Policy and Fees
Cancellations made 30 days or more before the reservation start date will receive a refund less a Cancellation Fee of $10.00 per person. There are no refunds or credits issued for ‘no shows’ or trip cancellations made 0–29 days prior to the reservation start date. Due to our limited spaces, there are no exceptions to this policy. Please be sure everyone in your group is aware of the policies on cancellations.

Cancellation details for Special Event and Wedding Venues are specified in the contract.

We encourage you to consider trip Travel Insurance which may protect you in the event you have to cancel your trip. Low-cost travel insurance is highly recommended and provides emergency evacuation, medical, baggage, and trip cancellation protection. Policies are available from your travel agent or by calling Allianz Travel Insurance at 800-284-8300.

Transfer Policy
There is a $5.00 per person date transfer processing fee if you change your trip date once your deposit has been received. There are no transfers allowed within 30 days of your reservation start date. Due to our limited spaces, there are no exceptions to this policy. Please be sure everyone in your group is aware of the policies on transfers and cancellations.

Group Discount Policy
In exchange for rafting or camping group discounts, the group organizer collects all payments and sends in one check or makes one payment by credit card for the deposit and one check or wire transfer for the balance. For bookings of $3,500.00 or more, credit card payments can be made with a 3% processing fee. Discounts are forfeited if individual payments are received from group members. It is the group organizer’s responsibility to distribute all trip materials to group members, including the Cancellation Policy.

Minimum Rafting Trip Capacity and Unsafe Conditions
Come rain, snow, or high water, we almost always raft on the American River. But if there are unsafe conditions or insufficient reservations, we reserve the right to alter the departure date or place, or to cancel any trip. There will be a full refund for any trip canceled by American Whitewater Expeditions. Our financial liability is limited to the amount paid directly to us and shall not cover any other expenses incurred by trip members.

River Cabins
Absolutely no pets or smoking is allowed in the Cabins. A fee of $250–$500 will be charged if additional cleaning is required or damages occur.
