Is American River Resort a private campground?
Yes, this is a private campground on private property. All guests must check in at the reception office prior to entering the campground.

Are day passes available?
Sorry, no day use is permitted at the Resort. River put-in or take-out privileges are reserved only for our guests and our affiliate rafting companies, American Whitewater Expeditions and American River Recreation. You are welcome to reserve a campsite for just 1 night and enjoy the amenities!

May I invite outside visitors to my site?
All outside visitors must check in at the office to register as part of your camping reservation, pay the regular camping fees, and get a parking pass. The fee is the regular daily camping rate based on your reservation site regardless of length of visit.

Do you provide fire grates for the fire pits?
No. Please bring your own BBQ grill, camp stoves, or equipment for cooking over a fire.

Do you provide firewood?
Yes, we have firewood bundles for sale in the reception store. Please make sure you understand and comply with the fire safety rules and guidelines during your stay.

Do you allow pets?
We are pet friendly in the campsites, RV Sites and River Platform Cabin Tent Sites. See our pet rules here. There are no pets permitted in the River Cabins at any time. There is a pet fee that applies per pet for the duration of your stay.

See the map and driving directions here.

What items should we bring for camping at American River Resort?
It depends on how long you plan to camp and on other variables, such as the weather and whether you prepare your own meals or eat at local food places. We provide picnic tables and fire pits, bathrooms and shower facilities. You provide basically everything else, including soap, towels, etc., for bathrooms and shower (though we do provide toilet paper). Here are printable lists of camping items suggested by REI and Coleman.
