American River Resort to host 2017 “Sierra to the Sea” cycling tour
The 420-mile bicycle camping tour includes a stop-over at American River Resort!
The “Sierra to the Sea” bike tour begins June 17 at Lake Tahoe and ends June 24 at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco.
Day Two of the journey starts at Silver Lake and ends in Coloma at American River Resort. Here cyclists and their support teams will enjoy well-deserved rest alongside the impressively beautiful American River.
This year close to 150 participants will make the trip–one of the most respected and successful annual rides of its kind in California. It is organized by the Almaden Cycle Touring Club of San Jose.
This year’s route averages 60 miles per day, traversing the Sierra Nevada, through the foothills, down to Sacramento, Napa and the Russian River Valley. It finishes with a ride across the Golden Gate Bridge.
