Take I-5 South to Sacramento. From Sacramento, take Highway 50 east, about 30 miles. Exit at the Ponderosa Road/Shingle Springs off ramp and turn left and go north over the highway. Just north of the highway, at the second stoplight, make an immediate right turn on North Shingle Road. Continue about 4.4 miles to the "Y" in the road and take the left fork, which is Lotus Road. Continue on Lotus Road until you reach Highway 49 in Coloma and turn right (the road will "T" into Highway 49, so you have to go either right or left anyway). Go approximately 1 mile on Highway 49 though James Marshall State Park, and go straight onto Coloma Heights Road (Highway 49 makes a sharp right hand turn but you'll go straight) and bear left on New River Road to American River Resort.
